Birmingham is the second largest city in the United Kingdom. It has plenty to offer its visitors, from museums from it’s industrial revolution heritage, shopping to football (soccer) matches. Many people visit the city to go shopping in the pedestrian streets, others stop by to watch a game with one of the local football teams. Both Aston Villa and Birmingham City are top teams in England with a great atmosphere in their matches. But, it’s not all rosy in the former industrial powerhouse of Britain.
One of the things you should avoid when visiting the city, is to be on Broad Street on a Saturday night. Here you’ll find a breed of species pretty common in UK cities. The female will be decked out in cleavage exposing baby doll dresses in the dead of winter and the male’s head will be covered in gel. Funnily enough it has got better – it used to be covered in human puke and piss post 10pm on a Saturday night. It’s the downside of the heavy drinking culture of Britain. What is charming and cosy in the country pub becomes madness in the middle of the street on Saturday nights.
Emo alert. St Phillips Cathedral on a weekend is also best avoided. Littered by infinite numbers of Emos dressed in stripy tights and black lipstick. While the picturesque cathedral has plenty of benches to park your derrière on, you’ll be pushed to find breathing space among this spotty bunch of yoots.
With these few warnings in mind, have a nice and safe trip to the capital of the Midlands.…
